Immigration approval has been granted, we are looking forward to the Rev’d Kim being on her way to Australia and a commissioning service in September/October.
As we await the arrival of Revd Kim, we are blessed to have The Rev’d Ray Yates as our Locum Tenens.
Friday 30 October we held a fund raiser to raise Breast Cancer Awareness with a PINK LADY DAY.
The Op Shop was kitted out with pink people and streamers, merchandise and sweet home made baking.
Thank you to everyone who assisted with set up and baking and for those who came along and joined in the morning.
At last our beautiful calendars have arrived from the printers in time to send off to family and friends for Christmas – and to keep for ourselves ofcourse. The prelimary designs were done by Ann Revell and Lucy Weaver and after much hard work, each month’s page suggested it’s own watercolour illustration. Jaki Crossland and Margaret O’Mahony enjoyed very much doing this part of the calendar.
Today’s service was dedicated to all those who have been touched by cancer in all its forms; loss of loved ones, those suffering and those who have survived. Ann Revell is one of the latter and she gave a beautiful recollection of her journey through cancer to her survival today. Ann has devoted much of her time and energy to helping like people over the past years. During the service the congregation was invited to place a ribbon, with names of loved ones written on it, on the tree in front of the altar. The choir sang You Raise Me Up during this interlude. Altogether it was a colourful and joyful service, followed by a special morning tea in the Parish Centre.
Sunday 30th was an occasion to hold another Fifth Sunday lunch, with an Italian theme. Noelene and Julia did a wonderful job of setting out the tables and organising the food. We were pleased to have the visiting locum Rector Ray and his wife Jan join us for this meal. Well done all those who supplied the delicious food. We also took the opportunity to celebrate the 80th birthday of Margaret Rudwick.
The consecration of our new Bishop Katherine Ann Wilmot at The Cathedral of St. George, Perth on Thursday 6th August, was an opportunity for members of our Parish to observe and participate. It was a memorable occasion lead by The Most Reverand Roger Heft, Archbishop of Perth, Bishops from around Australia, and many clergy from Perth and surrounding area taking part. We wish her well in her new role.
The church service today Sunday 26th July, was a happy one, yet touched with sadness, it being the farewell to our Rector Wendy, after six years in this Parish. During this period we have seen many changes within the church, both structurally and spiritually. Inside and out the church building itself has benefitted from restoration, much needed after 100 years. Last year, the actual centenary, was one of continuous celebration, always with Wendy at the helm. Now she is going to pastures new and we will miss her, but as we are always being reminded, the only constant is change. So it was time for change for her and for us, as she makes her new home in the Parish of Dianella, taking with her our love and God’s blessing. WATCH OUT DIANELLA!
