LifeLong – Yoga for the elderly

On Saturday morning 2 May a group of people gathered at the Parish Centre for instruction in yoga, devised especially for the older person.  Lynne Watts was the instructor and she emphasised that yoga could indeed be done sitting in a chair, if not able to do it from floor level.  Three opted to do just that.  One of the partipants expressed her pleasure at feeling refreshed and relaxed at the end of the session, which included a period of meditation and relaxation.

Artist’s Way

Wednesday 29 April was the last meeting for The Artist’s Way course which ten people from the parish had been taking part in.  This course of 12 weeks was divised by Julia Cameron over ten years ago, and has been a very popular one.  The intention was to unblock, or rekindle, the creative part of each person as gifted by God in a series of readings, writing and tasks.  The concensus was that everyone derived something from the course, and for some it did indeed inspire the artist within.  Altogether an enjoyable experience, which it is hoped will continue.
