People were in party mood as they gathered at the Parish Centre on Friday 10th April for the Resurrection Party. Pizza and wine were on the menu. All were asked to name the first thing they would thank God for on entering paradise.
The Easter Services on 5 April started with the dawn service at 5.30am when we gathered in the church forecourt for the ritual lighting of a fire and the Paschal Candle. The weather proved to be a little difficult and windy, but eventually the candle was lit and everyone moved into the church for the service of hymns, readings and prayers. Later in the morning a Family Service was held attended by many children and parents.
Maunday Thursday 2nd April was the occasion of our celebration of The Last Supper, which we know as the Agape Meal. This has become a very special event in our church calendar being the night before Good Friday. The room was beautifully prepared and the meal excellent. Starting with the symbolic Sedar Plate, each item reminding us of something from our past. There were readings and blessings throughout the evening. The main course was of lamb and vegetables and the desert honey pie. After the meal we progressed to the church for Eucharist and solomn stripping of the santuary and altar.
